HORIZON EQUESTRIAN'S VISION
"To raise the quality of care and training of elite performance horses in Manitoba."
The goal of Horizon's training and lesson program is to promote and develop internationally competitive riders and horses. Mackenzie personally competes a string of horses owned by the Horizon Equestrian family aswell as coaches the Horizon competition team. The team competes locally as well as travels throughout North America to obtain scores and qualifications for a variety of international events and competitions.
Mackenzie is an FEI Dressage rider formerly based in San Diego, California. Mackenzie made the move to Steffen & Shannon Peter's Arroyo Del Mar in 2015 and enjoyed her time in the sun training and riding primarily under Dawn White O’Connor, and had the opportunity to ride with a variety of talented trainers, Additionally Mackenzie was invited to participate in a USDF Emerging Athlete Clinic with Charlotte Brehdal and George Williams. Mackenzie has successfully earned her USEF Silver medal on two personally trained horses as well as several CDI YR victories, with hopes of competing in the U25 Grand Prix Division and finishing her Gold medal this upcoming season. Currently she is focused on developing a string of horses through the FEI levels. As Mackenzie competes internationally and continues her classical education, she has created a contrasted training environment where horses of all ages and levels thrive. Mackenzie's program emphasizes the horses mental and physical well being while conscientiously following the Dressage training scale. Mackenzie's attention to detail, particularly regarding the horses health and wellbeing is what sets her apart.
Mackenzie manages her team of horses immaculately to ensure they have every chance to perform their best.

“Mackenzie sits beautifully, following her horse without tension. The occasional over exuberance of a young horse does not change her gentle guidance to move forward. This balance and strength are the support of her feel. Patience, kindness and a genuine love of horses guide her approach.
Mackenzie inspires confidence in young horses, encouraging them to find their own balance and expression in their gaits. As a Young Rider she has trained and competed several horses to top FEI levels as well as ridden and competed young horses for the trainers she has worked with.”

“Mackenzie is an exceptional rider and instructor. I took several lessons from her here in California. Her focus was always on enhancing the rider's physical and mental awareness to create maximum harmony with the horse. She comes each day with a positive attitude and has successfully competed happy talented horses to the top levels. I was honored to have the experience of learning from her.”

“Mac is the most supportive and amazing coach you will ever meet. She has guided me through so many lessons which have greatly influenced my riding and capabilities on horse back. She is always by my side no matter what and I am forever grateful for her. She has made the biggest impact on my riding and helped me through so many ups and downs. I feel she is 100% one of the best coaches I have worked with. Her knowledge and kindness shines through day after day to anyone she coaches and mentors.”

“As a mom whose daughter has been riding since she was four, and been through a multitude of trainers/coaches and different facilities, I can not think of a more passionate and caring trainer than in Mackenzie.
She not only strives for the best with her clients but all horses under her care.
She has mentored and taking my daughter under her wing, teaching her patience, empathy and the “ins and outs” of what it takes to be a great rider and horse owner.
Mackenzie is a breath of fresh air in all aspects! We are honoured and thankful to have our horses under her care and I could not ask for a better mentor!”
